Another fabulous listen. I remember when I first learned that either West Virginia or Virginia avoided desegregation by closing down their schools, which included schools attended by poor white families. They lost an entire generation of education just because they didn't want to desegregate. I've never understood that. I am a Methodist raised Jesus loving white mom of two wife of one in my mid-50s and I just don't understand the desire and or need for the persecution narrative or desire/need to be number one/in control. That is not what Jesus has asked us to do.

I really liked your quote, "Religious liberty should never be a tool for reinforcing power. It should be a safeguard for the vulnerable." I think one of the worst parts of the voucher program is that it is sold as being good for all children, but that is not the truth. I heard a very compelling argument in Texas either this year or last year where the politician was talking about the the truth behind these vouchers. It was inspiring.

Thank you for your writing. Please keep up the courageous work. I'm going on to segment 4. By the way, my small group (through church) and I are actually going through your articles together to discuss. Be well.
